Neighborhood Cleanup Events

It’s that time of year again! Time to get outside, meet your neighbors, and band together to beautify your neighborhoods. Below is a list of all the cleanups happening in the NWNW Coalition. Find your neighborhood event and come out to clean up with your neighbors! Keep in mind that all events are held rain or shine, so come prepared for Portland’s Spring weather.

 

Forest Park

Saturday, April 21st 9am-1pm

NW Germantown Rd & Skyline Blvd.

Skyline and Forest Park neighbors and friends are invited to participate in this Earth Day clean up. This is a perfect opportunity to perform community volunteer work. Snacks, safety training, plastic gloves, and safety vests will be provided. Families are welcome.

 

Linnton

Saturday, April 28th 8:15am-12pm

The Decoy Restaurant, 10710 NW St. Helens Rd

Make Linnton shine! Meet at the Decoy Restaurant at 8:15 for a free breakfast and then head out with your neighbors to pick up litter. A good time will be had by all!

 

Northwest District

Saturday, April 7th 9-10am

New Seasons, 2170 NW Raleigh St

Come out for this monthly litter clean-up in the Northwest District. Meet up with your neighbors at the Slabtown New Seasons.

 

Saturday, April 14th 9-10:30am

Food Front Co-op, 2375 NW Thurman St

Join your neighbors for the monthly NWDA second Saturday litter clean up! Volunteers will meet at the Food Front Co-op and clean up the neighborhood. Food and coffee provided by Food Front!

 

Saturday, April 21st 9-10:30am

Elephant’s Deli, 115 NW 22nd Ave.

Join volunteers for this monthly 3rd Saturday Cleanup in Northwest Portland. Pick up litter and remove graffiti in the area. Join us for some coffee and conversation afterward. Thank you to Trader Joe’s for donating disposal.

 

Saturday, April 28th 9-10am

NW International Hostel, 479 NW 18th Ave

Join volunteers for this monthly 4th Saturday Cleanup in Northwest Portland. Coffee and snacks provided by the Hostel Café. Come prepared to work rain or shine, please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Look for the SOLVE sign and the coffee station!

 

Old Town Chinatown

Saturday, April 21st 9am-12pm

NW Davis Festival Street

Come and help clean up Old Town. This Earth Day, SOLVE and Old Town Community Association will focus on beautifying NW Davis Festival Street by pruning and replanting the tree wells. Morning coffee and refreshments will be provided by Starbucks. Children 12-17 years of age welcome with adult supervision.

 

Pearl District

Saturday, April 21st 9am-12pm

Pacific Northwest College of Art, 511 NW Broadway

Celebrate Earth Day by recycling clutter and meeting neighbors at the Recycle Reclaim Clean-up Event. Bring computers, electronics and small appliances to be recycled by Green Century Recycling Also bring used clothing to be donated to a local shelter. You can also bring gently used working household items for the Swap Tables, where you can donate or claim small appliances, linens, kitchenware, etc.

 

Portland Downtown

Saturday, April 21st 10am-12pm

SW Gant & Water St

Join Friends of RiverPlace and the International school in their efforts to clean and beautify the downtown area from south Naito to the River. This is our future Field of Dreams! Lunch provided for all volunteers by McCormick & Schmick’s! This can be strenuous work but volunteers are invited to participate for as long as they would like.

 

Sylvan-Highlands

Sunday, April 22nd 9am-12pm

Sylvan Starbucks, 1850 SW Skyline

Come help clean up the Sylvan Highlands area! Volunteers will meet at the Sylvan Starbucks and then clean up litter in the neighborhood. Volunteers can arrive and leave as they please. Dress appropriately for the weather, including wearing tennis shoes, sunblock, or a rain jacket. If you have your own supplies you would like to use, you can bring gloves or a litter grabber. Otherwise, supplies will be provided. Lunch will be provided courtesy of Verde Cocina at noon!
