SCRAP will provide staffed activities for children, so if you have kids, bring them along!
PBOT has several related W Burnside projects in differing stages of design – come learn about the following:

  1. W Burnside Sidewalk Infill from NW 24th to Uptown Terrace: Learn about the construction timeline and design for this project, which will install new sidewalk on the north side of W Burnside from NW 24th to Uptown Terrace. ADA ramps at W Burnside and 24th will also be improved. Design is complete, construction is planned for the summer of 2017.
  2. W Burnside and 20th Place Crossing Improvement: Provide input on this new traffic signal slated to be installed at the existing crosswalk at 20th Place, improving pedestrian safety. The project will close the 25ft section of 20th Place between Burnside and Morrison, creating a combined TriMet stop. Design has not yet begun, construction is anticipated 2017/2018.
  3. W Burnside Multimodal Project: Provide final feedback on this project, which will implement the Preferred Design developed in the West Burnside Multimodal Study, improving pedestrian, bicycle, and transit access at 18th & 19th. New crosswalks, bike lanes, and vehicle turn lanes will be installed on NW 18th & 19th. Design is underway, construction is scheduled for the summer of 2017.

Please note that a NW Examiner article unfortunately included a design that we have discarded, requiring east bound drivers headed for SW Alder to loop around the Fireman’s Memorial. See the current design here. My apologies for the confusion! -GG

  4. I-405 Crossing Improvements on W Burnside and NW Couch: Provide input on pedestrian crossings improvements across I-405 on W Burnside and NW Couch which funded via the Downtown I-405 Pedestrian Safety and Operational Improvements project. Design has not yet begun, construction is anticipated 2017/2018.
