Diversity in Action

Black Lives matter
Neighbors West-Northwest mourns for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and other Black Americans unjustly killed by law enforcement each year. Our country’s foundational institutions are deeply rooted in white supremacy – we recognize that systemic change is the only way forward.

We also recognize that our organization can and must do more to work towards racial equity. We commit to educating ourselves and others about systemic and individual racism. We invite our affiliate neighborhood associations and community partners to join and challenge us as we strive to do – and demand – better.

Black lives matter. Black joy and prosperity matter, too.

In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.

–Angela Davis

Native Americans walked this land before we did
That Native Americans have contributed much to the history of the United Stated is indisputable. These contributions come in many forms: contributions exploring the interior, engaging in commerce and revolution, organizing cooperating tribes to defend their homes against settlers, acknowledging pain and suffering war brings, using their language to communicate on the battlefield, play professional sports, create music, and acting in or directing movies.

To learn more about the tribes who have historically called the land we stand on today home, check out this site and the interactive map showing the peoples who came before us.
