Our territory covers a majority of land in the Northwest quadrant of the city and 4 neighborhoods in the Southwest quadrant as well.  Together, we serve approximately 75,000 people who come from a wide array of backgrounds and all walks of life.  Neighbors West-Northwest began life as an outgrowth of collective efforts in the Northwest District in the late 1960s and early 1970s. We were incorporated as a Coalition in 1979, with the goal of promoting direct participation in grassroots democracy by supporting community efforts at the neighborhood level.

Throughout our life, we have focused on providing basic administrative and financial support services mandated by ONI to our constituent neighborhoods, as well as several grant making and administration programs. Through strategic planning processes undertaken in 2021 and 2022, we have added programming to enrich and empower our neighborhoods and those who live within them. Our current slate of programming addresses ONI mandates, grant making or administration, care for our natural and built up environment, and to address real, pressing issues such as public safety and homelessness.
