The 405 Grant

Background:
The Northwest Neighborhoods Parks and Recreation Fund (AKA The 405 Grant) was created in the mid 1970’s by the Oregon Department of Transportation to offset the impact that construction of Interstate 405 had on the Hillside, Northwest District, and Northwest Industrial neighborhoods/areas. Money from this fund is designed to bolster public access to parks and recreation facilities, as well as support the construction and renovation of parks and recreation facilities in Northwest Portland.

Dates:
The application window for this grant generally opens in August, with applications being due on or about November 1st.

Eligibility:
Community groups and non-profit organizations planning projects that enhance livability or the access to and construction of parks and recreation facilities are eligible and encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to projects taking place within in the Hillside, Northwest District, and Northwest Industrial neighborhoods/areas, however the fund will consider applications for work to be done within the entire Northwest quadrant of Portland.
