South Burlingame Neighborhood Association Has Been Building the Infrastructure for a Brighter More Inclusive Future!
The SBNA board has been working hard this year to during COVID to put in place the infrastructure to broaden our outreach for greater inclusion of neighbors, to establish an entity which will allow for an independent financial future for greater investment in neighbors priorities for projects and strengthen our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion while also providing greater resources and tools for our community. A list of accomplishments are below and we look forward to engaging more voices in our neighborhood to inform priorities for the next year!

SBNA became a 501(c)3 organization to allow for greater independence and allow for fundraising to support our community initiatives and take advantage of free premium services that expands our outreach capabilities.

SBNA Revised Bylaws to strengthen our equity position to broaden our opportunity for inclusion and compliance with our new 501(c)3 organizational structure.

SBNA Generated new Financial Policies & Procedures and Forms to support our new 501(c)3 entity and provide clarity for the members of our organization.

SBNA Adopted a Racial Equity Policy and Equity & Inclusion Best Practices and disavowed past South Burlingame Racist Covenants to provide framework for engagement in our community that acknowledges our racist history and charts a path for an equitable future.

SBNA received a $2000 grant for partners Robert Gray Middle School and Ida B Wells High School for the “Tackling Racism in Our Backyard” program in concer with the No Place for Hate initiative that will be implementing by June 2021.

SBNA partnered with the Hillsdale Neighborhood Association to provide free JEDI Training for both neighborhood board members and neighbors with Diversity and Inclusion trainer Emma Dugan.

SBNA designed a new friendly, accessible and inclusive website www.southburlingamena.org to inform, invite and engage our community that also provides dedicated Neighborhood Emergency resources to support South Burlingame NET.

SBNA created a South Burlingame Neighborhood Association Group on Next-door with 156 members (created March ’21) to further engage our community with informing our work and educating on activities within our neighborhood.

SBNA created an Instagram account @southburlingamena to engage our community.
