2021-22 Small Grants

The first round of funding from our Small Grants program has been awarded to 7 groups working diligently to build community in NW and SW Portland. Funds can be used to increase participation, expand leadership capacity, partnerships, or equity, amplify overlooked voices and increase public influence, build community resiliency, or care for the physical environment. Downtown Neighborhood Association was awarded $1,461 to support the outreach efforts of their “Help Team.” These volunteerspick up trash, clean graffiti, report safety and livability issues and do outreach to Downtown stakeholders including, businesses, residents (housed and unhoused), and visitors on a weekly basis.

First Congregational United Church of Christ was awarded $2,500 to put on the “Art & Soul Fest,” a neighborhood arts festival gathering housed & unhoused people within the community. The event will highlight art, poetry & music by homeless artists, and visitors will be encouraged to add their voices to a collaborative art project.

Friendly House was awarded $3,000 for technology support to help move their events and activities online in order to encourage greater attendance and make them more accessible.  

Lift Urban Portland was awarded $2,500 to translate their outreach materials and provide language interpretation services to new clients.

Linnton Neighborhood Association was awarded $2,000 to continue providing the Linnton Newsletter to the 400+ households in Linnton.

SW Hills Residential League was awarded $1,440 to update their website and communications services.   

Sylvan-Highlands Neighborhood Association was awarded $2,500 to support their community engagement efforts and environmental care projects. This will include a neighborhood social, litter clean-ups, and a ZooLights event, as well as improved outreach strategies.
